PowerUp Electric is hiring an Electrical Service Technician (Sales & Installation) to help homeowners understand their electrical needs, recommend the right solutions, and perform or support quality installations. This is a great role for a licensed residential electrician or journeyman-level electrician who enjoys both the technical side of the trade and the customer-facing side of service work.
The ideal candidate is confident speaking with homeowners, experienced in residential electrical work, and comfortable handling service calls, troubleshooting, estimates, and installations. Sales experience is a plus, but the most important fit is someone who is personable, professional, technically skilled, and motivated to deliver a 5-star customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Run residential electrical service calls and homeowner appointments
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and explain findings clearly to customers
- Recommend practical electrical solutions based on the customer's home, needs, safety, and budget
- Prepare quotes and guide homeowners through options using the company's pricing system
- Perform residential electrical installations, maintenance, repairs, inspections, and upgrades
- Complete work safely, professionally, and in compliance with electrical codes and company standards
- Communicate clearly with customers, office staff, and team members
- Maintain accurate documentation for jobs, quotes, and completed work
- Keep the company vehicle, tools, and work areas clean and organized
- Represent PowerUp Electric with professionalism, honesty, and a customer-first mindset
Qualifications
- Residential Electrical License, Journeyman License, or equivalent Iowa electrical license required
- 2+ years of residential electrical experience required
- Residential troubleshooting, service, repair, and installation experience
- Comfortable speaking with homeowners and explaining electrical work in simple terms
- Sales experience preferred but not required
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
- Comfortable using a smartphone, iPad, or basic technology for job documentation
- Reliable, punctual, and professional appearance
- Able to work independently while staying aligned with company standards
- Travel within Eastern Iowa (typically within 60-90 minutes of Cedar Rapids)
- Flexible with schedule needs, including occasional extended hours or weekend work when required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Physically able to perform electrical work, use tools, lift equipment, and work in various home/jobsite conditions
Pay and Benefits
- Full-Time, W-2 Employment
- Base salary + commission. Total expected earnings: $90,000-$140,000 annually. Earning potential based on experience and performance.
